During Valentine’s Day week, spas that offer gift certificates sell about double what they do in January or March weeks, according to SpaBooker, a system used by more than 3,000 spas in the U.S. Actual visits go up as well: Spas in its system are about 28 percent busier during Valentine’s week. SpaFinder, which sells a gift certificate (redeemable at more than 7,000 spas worldwide) at such stores as Walgreens, sees a sales bump of 25 percent to 30 percent.
