The Proknowledge Workshop in Minneapolis, MN reminded GramercyOne of the strong sense of community that exists in the spa industry. Spa owners, therapists, directors, vendors, and education providers gathered for three days to break down the basics of spa operations and assess where the industry stands today on hot topics like insurance, staffing, and financial metrics. The format of the workshop allowed attendees to learn from industry leaders but also from other spa professionals’ experiences. Additionally, the weekend was a perfect opportunity for operators to have one on one conversations with spa vendors to help them answer operational questions they have. SpaBooker by GramercyOne was fortunate to have conversations that gave them the spa owner’s perspective on our software, which we always value to help us develop our software in ways that build the client base and make managing a business easier.
The Minneapolis area is home to many growing spa and salon businesses, and we were excited to hear their feedback and provide them with tips on how to drive business by better understanding today’s web consumer. Particularly, we reminded attendees to understand their online presence (what comes up when they Google their business name) and the power of consumer reviews. Additionally, the theme of social media marketing was a popular topic that seems to be gaining a place in even in the one room spa’s business plan.
The Proknowledge workshops is brought to the industry through the Day Spa Association and International Medical Spa Association. The groups’ commitment to educating the spa community is evident through the workshops and other events like their seminar at the upcoming Ex-tracts event during the New York International Gift Fair. Members of the DSA board and sponsors of the Proknowledge workshops will present on Spa Retailing Essentials for Buyers & Suppliers.
